There’s a NEW ministry on the horizon – Residents Encounter Christ! Their mission statement says it all: “The one essential belief is that everyone in the world needs a relationship with Jesus Christ. Everything – EVERYTHING else is nonessential. God has called us to help bring that essential belief to the residents of prisons and jails.”
Similar to the Kairos Prison Ministry effort, R.E.C. is an ecumenical, three-day experience given to those who are incarcerated. Where it differs is that while Kairos supports efforts in prisons only, R.E.C. also includes jails. The volunteer teams can be composed of both men and women – regardless of the gender of the prison population targeted. Often teams support both men and women weekends at the same time!
I am on the Women’s team that will be held at the jail facility in Bushnell, FL. There are several other Kairos volunteers who are scattered among both Women’s and Men’s teams, but they are looking for more volunteers.
The weekend will be held June 4-6. Please be in prayer for these weekends as prayer is always needed.
