I wanted to send this note of Thanks! to the Stephen Ministry and everyone who donated school supplies for this school year.
On the Friday morning prior to the Sunday distribution, Steve and I went up early in the morning to bring our donations. When we got to Karen’s office – I was very surprised to find a pile of school supplies, already! We organized the piles into a visual display. Steve was worried that there wouldn’t be enough. I told him not to worry and have faith. God will provide. He said, so you better get here really early on Sunday to organize the piles, again – I said not to worry – when the donations come in - the person who brings them – will put their supplies in the right area. On Sunday morning when I came into the office – what a tremedous outpouring of love was in Karen’s office! Thank you to everyone who donated!
When I went back with the families to the office, the faces of the children lit up – different colors to choose from, lots of selections, outstanding. Many Moms had tears in their eyes – each said – we can’t take all of these things – I said, yes, you can – because the people of this church love you and your family just like Jesus! Later in the day, children asked me if they could pack a bag for their friend or neighbor who didn’t have any school supplies – I said sure – that is what these supplies are for - to share. Even through the first couple of days school starting and into the week – I got phone calls -”Would it be alright if I picked up a bag for someone else?” Of course.
Yesterday afternoon, I went to the church and packed up the remaining school supplies to be passed out after Christmas break – It took 8 trips back to the storage unit in the children’s pod – now we have supplies – pencils, pens, paper, notebooks, folders to carry the children through the entire school year.
Thank you for giving from your heart, out of love – in our world today it is so very important that our children and their families know that they are loved by the body of Christ!
Thank you for keeping our children in your prayers for a successful school year and the opportunity to share the light of Jesus.
